Understanding Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that often involve emotional pain, perfectionism, trauma, or a need for control. They can affect anyone—regardless of age, gender, or background.
Common types include:
- Anorexia Nervosa
- Bulimia Nervosa
- Binge Eating Disorder
- Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
- Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED)
Signs may include:
- Obsessive thoughts about food, weight, or body image
- Restricting or avoiding certain foods
- Binge eating or purging behaviors
- Excessive exercise or body-checking
- Guilt, shame, or anxiety around eating
Eating disorders are not about food—they’re about using food to cope. And with the right support, recovery is possible.
